A collection of great fun-filled play and learning ideas for you and your pre-school child.

Getting ready for school-life, children need confidence and the skills and desire to think for themselves, to solve problems, to communicate, and to gain an increasing understanding of the world and how it works.

The Ready for School app helps you to develop your child’s confidence and motivation for learning – all while having fun! The activities will help child to be familiar with numbers and letters, shapes and colours, developing a love of words and stories, problem-solving and nature.

Use the Categories option to find ideas for fun and learning together, wherever you are – out and about or at home. Look out for regular launches of new activity packs making the most of children’s favourite interests and seasonal events.

Produced by leading childcare provider Bright Horizons Family Solutions®, “Ready for School” is endorsed by author and education consultant Penny Tassoni;
“What is wonderful about this app is that it is not a babysitting device designed to replace parents, but instead gives parents everything they need to be wonderful educators. It is in effect an inspirational prompt for parents who within a couple of touches can distract, amuse and focus their children’s attention on the world around them. The mini activities have been cleverly designed to help parents maximise teaching opportunities in everyday situations such as shopping, weather or even getting stuck in a queue. There are questions to prompt discussions, suggestions for how to develop children’s counting skills and simple games for the family to play.

The choices of topics and suggestions for parents are relevant, carefully constructed and so should be feasible even for the most harassed or technophobic parent. It is in effect a store cupboard of ideas that fits neatly into your hand.”
